Derita, Ed.S. LPC is the Director of Services at SafePath Children’s Advocacy Center. Derita is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years of experience in treating traumatized children and families. Derita received her Master’s Degree in Community Counseling in 1999 and also a Specialist Degree in Community Counseling in 2001 from the University of West Georgia. Derita is also trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Alternatives for Families Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. In addition, Derita has over two hundred hours of forensic interview training by nationally recognized organizations and has conducted hundreds of forensic interviews concerning allegations of abuse. Derita is also the author of “Building a SafePath: From Confusion to Clarity” facilitator’s guide and caregiver handbook. As the Director of Services at SafePath Children’s Advocacy, Derita supervises both the clinical and intervention services provided at SafePath and supervises the graduate clinical intern program. Derita also coordinates clinical trainings provided by SafePath which feature experts in the field of child abuse and treatment.
